"This violin was for many years the concert instrument of Georgina Springer (b Amsterdam, 1897), who was known under her stage name of Nina Dolce. She gave her first concert at the age of five, accompanied by her seven-year-old sister, and won a place at the Royal Academy of Music in Antwerp two years later. There she won a first prize with commendation, and she continued her studies under the Belgian violinist César Thomson. Her career took her on concert tours throughout Europe, and she performed at the Kursaal in Oostende on the same evening as the tenor Caruso. After this concert she was presented with a Chappuy violin by Queen Elisabeth of Belgium.
The Vuillaume has remained in her family ever since."
