Labeled, "Barak Norman and Nathaniel Cross, at the bass viol in St., Paul's church yard, London fecit 1725."

Dimensions slightly altered. The upper and lower ribs and the head probably c. 1800. Engraved to the back, and to the top, "Barak Norman London fecit."

Back: in three pieces of plain quarter cut maple with faint narrow-width horizontal flame.

Top: in two pieces of spruce with narrow-width grain.

Scroll: of plainer maple.

Ribs: The middle ribs of wood similar to the back; the upper and lower ribs likely replaced and of broader flames.

Varnish: of a dark reddish-brown color.

Length of back: 71.6 cm

Upper bouts: 34.7 cm

Middle bouts: 25.2 cm

Lower bouts: 41.8 cm
