Branded to the inside top, "Gand Breveté Paris." Branded to the lower ribs, "45."
Both the back and top of experimental arching design, the top to aid the fitting of bridge feet as patented by Gand père, the back at the request of Mr. Fountaine, who purchased the violin in 1841.
