Certificates & Documents

  • Letter: W. E. Hill & Sons, London (1951) To Carl Mächler: "We have examined the violin submitted by you which has no label. This is a composite instrument which we should attribute to the work of Stradivari's sons. The character of the work of the table is somewhat different from that of the back. The table has strong features of Omobono Stradivari, whilst the back, sides and head have more the features of Francesco Stradivari. We do not think that any part of this violin was made by the father, Antonio."

Cozio holds copies of many certificates and other documents, some of which are available to view on request. Please contact us if you wish to view a particular document. (Note that we do not always have permission to share documents.)
