Back: One-piece of distinct figure sloping downwards from left to right
Top: of very fine grain, widening slightly towards the flanks. Sound holes have been enlarged
Scroll: of fainter figure
Ribs: upper and lower of wood similar to back; C-bout ribs of a less marked figure
Varnish: Dark orange on a lighter ground
Length of back: 35.3 cm
Upper bouts: 16.3 cm
Middle bouts: 10.9 cm
Lower bouts: 20.2 cm

"This violin is a typical example of the early work of the master's production, excluding the f-holes which have been enlarged.
A well-made instrument, it has remarkable acoustical qualities.
The wood used for its construction is of an excellent quality, seen in the maple with very prominent flame, as well as in the spruce, with very fine grain at the centre of the instrument."
Nothing is known about the history of this instrument first recovered in Italy during the 1980s. It is only evident that an unskilled hand enlarged the f-holes altering forever the formal and stylistic balance of the top plate.
