Labeled, "Petrus Guarnerius Cremonensis filius Andreae, fecit Mantuae sub. tit. Sanctae Teresiae 1686."
Originally decorated with ivory and mastic inlay at the edges which was converted to a double purfling design by the Hills after the publication of their 1931 book on the Guarneri family makers.
Back: in one piece of quarter cut maple with medium flame.
Top: in two pieces of spruce with medium grain broadening slightly toward the edges.
Ribs: of similar wood.
Varnish: of an orangish brown color.
Length of back: 35.3 cm
Upper bouts: 16.5 cm
Middle bouts: 11.3 cm
Lower bouts: 20.3 cm

By the time of the 1937 Stradivari Celebration, the ivory embroidery had been removed, but the ebony ornamentation remained.
