"The 'Pawle' is one of seven known cellos made by Stradivari around 1730 on the 'forma B piccola' model, a narrower version of the previously used 'forma B'. . . The patterns for this model bear inscriptions which are likely in the handwriting of Francesco, so it is logical to presume that he was responsible for the new design. One cas also see the participation of Francesco in the construction of the 'Pawle'. . ."
