Notes:
The instrument was the subject of an interesting suit when in 1892 Gemunder Brothers enabled Leonora von Stosch to try out the instrument. As she couldn't afford to purchase it herself, it was several months before she found a patron, Gordon McKay, who bought the instrument directly from Isidor Hauser for $5,000. Gemunder Brothers subsequently sued Isidor Hauser because they didn't receive a commission for the sale. The jury ruled in favor of the plaintiff and awarded Gemunder $500, plus $25 interest.Her $5,000 Stradivarius, The New York Times, New York
