"Some of the drawings Stradivari made for his inlaid instruments survive and can be seen at the Museo Stradivariano in Cremona. It is therefore possible to observe his skilled hand and get a glimpse into the technique he used to produce the decorations on his instruments, which were of the famous 'a spolvero' variety, typically used by painters for frescos." – Alessandra Barabaschi
