Bearing its original label, "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis faciebat Anno 172?" (the last 3 digits are handwritten, the last being either a 0 or 9).

Back: Two-piece show broad flames ascending from the center joint

Top: of fine grain in the center, broadening towards the flanks

Ribs: of wood similar to back, with broader flames

Varnish: Orange-red over a golden-yellow ground

Length of back: 35.5 cm

Upper bouts: 16.8 cm

Middle bouts: 11.1 cm

Lower bouts: 20.75 cm

Notes:

Although this instrument bears an original label dated 1720 or 1729 (the last digit is unclear), most experts concur that it was actually constructed in 1704.
