"The Hill company once claimed it 'the most characteristic masterpiece of Guarneri del Gesù. . . .

According to dendrochronology analysis, the two-piece front is made from two assymetric pieces of spruce with different ages. The bass side is almost identical to the ex-Heifetz 1740; the treble side, however, is exactly the same as Sauret, 1743."
