Labeled, "Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1717 AS."

The table and head by José Contreras, mid 18th century.

Back: in two pieces of quarter cut maple with medium flame descending slightly from the center seam.

Top: in two pieces of spruce with medium grain.

Scroll: of plainer maple.

Ribs: of similar wood.

Varnish: of an orangish brown color.

Length of back: 75.7 cm (29 13/16 inches)

Upper bouts: 34.2

Middle bouts: 23.8

Lower bouts: 43.8

Notes:

Repaired by Josè Contreras in Madrid around 1799. Among other things, he added a new neck and probably the head as well.
