Albert Caressa and Henri Français were the junior partners in the Gand & Bernardel firm, and on Gustave Bernardel's retirement in 1901 they continued the firm as Caressa & Français. When Henri Français retired in 1920, it was renamed Albert Caressa and after Caressa's retirement it was continued under Henri Français's son Emile as Emile Francais.
