Alfred Vincent was the first violin at His Majesty's Theatre and a violin maker. He was active in London starting in 1902 and was later assisted by his brother. In 1923, he received the first prize at the Cobbett Competition in London. From 1927, he established his workshop in Great Pulteney Street, London. He completed over 300 instruments, which included a quartet that was bequeathed to the Royal Academy of Music in London. A significant portion of his production was based on part-finished instruments imported from European factories. His fine professional workmanship was evident in the Stradivari model, featuring pale gold or deeper red-brown varnish.
