Emile L'Humbert
(1872 – 1933)
Emile L'Humbert was a pupil of Derazey and Mougenot in Mirecourt. He worked for Blanchard in Lyons and for Jombart, Bernadel, and Silvestre in Paris. He established himself independently there in 1906. His work was very fine, based on classical Italian models with shaded oil varnish. Very few of his instruments carried his own label; most were labelled and sold by his employers and other dealers. He signed internally: 'I: Humbert'.
