Giovanni Pistucci
Violin maker
(1864 – 1955)
Giovanni Pistucci was a pupil of V. Postiglione and was active from 1885. He was an important maker of the 20th-century Neapolitan school, known for fine work on classical models, including many reproductions of Gagliano and other minor Neapolitan makers with reproduction labels. The varnish he used featured shades of golden yellow and red brown, although much of the varnishing was completed by Bellarosa, who acquired all the tools and equipment from his workshop after his death. He received medals awarded at Brussels and Naples and was credited with producing 800 violins, 200 violas, and 25 cellos.
