Mark William Dearlove, son and pupil of Mark Dearlove, took over his father's workshop in Boar Lane in 1828. He entered a brief partnership with John Charles Fryer, with their business listed as 'Dearlove and Fryer' at Benson's Yard, 23 Boar Lane. By 1845, he was the sole name at 27 Black Swan Yard, and in 1861, he was recorded at 156 North Street. Various trade advertisements indicate other addresses, ...Read More including George & Dragon Yard in 1830 and 63 George Street from 1842 to 1845. He employed Absam and Gough at different times and exhibited at the Great Exhibitions in London in 1851 and 1862, creating a miniature quartet for the 1851 event. His shop's contents were displayed at the Abbey House museum in Leeds until 1998. Mark William had 12 children, all noted musicians in Yorkshire, primarily as flautists.
