Alessandro Mezzadri
Violin maker
(fl. 1690 – 1740)
Thought to be a professional musician as well as a violin maker, Mezzadri is seen as the founder of the Ferrara school of violin making. His stylish instruments are rare, some featuring an astonishingly high quality of work and materials, and loosely based on an Amati model. Some Maggini-model examples also exist.
