Friedrich Christian Edler was the son, pupil, and successor of Friedrich Edler (II). He received a national medal at Leipzig in 1909. He was officially appointed as the maker to the Grand Ducal Court of Saxony and the Landgrave of Hessen. He was a renowned expert on old instruments.
