Karl Ertl

Violin maker

Karl Ertl was the son and pupil of Jakob Ertl and a fine craftsman. Various Italianate models were used by him. The edges were very rounded, and the scroll was wide across the eyes. He employed different varnishes, mostly achieving success with deep coloration and good texture. A heavily inlaid violin was located in the Musee de la Musique, Paris.
