Francesco Zani
Violin maker
–
The work was unsophisticated, yet very characteristically Italian and admirable. The outline was not well governed. It featured a pale hard yellow varnish and high rounded arching with a clear Stainer influence. There were short open soundholes. The scroll had tapering volutes when viewed from the front and back, resembling the style of Grancino. The last turn to the eye was extended, and the chin was rather squared-off. The materials used were plain.
