James Taylor

James Taylor worked as an ivory turner and instrument maker. He established his business at 114 John Street, Glasgow in 1816. From 1839, he operated at no. 84, and from 1860 to 1870, he was located at no. 89 on the same street. He was one of the earliest makers in Glasgow. His work featured neat craftsmanship on a narrow model, with the head possibly being an imported Mittenwald piece. The varnish used was orange spirit varnish.
