Simon Schödler was a luthier to the court of Passau. His work was coarse in the Hornsteiner manner, featuring high arches and a deep edge channel. The varnish was thin and almost black opaque. He also exhibited a fine baryton with a carved head. A five-course lute was located at the Claudius Museum in Copenhagen. Schödler worked as a hochfiirstl. Hof / Lauten- und Geigenmacher zu / Passau in the year 1765.
