Adam Martin
Violin maker
–
Adam Martin worked in the London trade, creating typical pieces modeled after Stainer or Amati, featuring dark brown varnish over a red stained ground and wide-set soundholes. Some models were known to be cornerless and guitar-shaped. He was possibly an employee of Thompson and advertised himself as a musical instrument maker and tortoiseshell worker. One of his violins was branded on the back button with "Martin A. " He operated as a musical instrument maker at Hermitage Bridge in London, with an address opposite King's Brewhouse on St. Katharine's.
