David Bailey Rockwell

David Bailey Rockwell was a violin and bow maker. He was active in Boston from 1878 to 1895, in Providence in 1901, in Detroit in 1908, in Philadelphia in 1915, in Hartford, Connecticut in 1920, and finally in New York in 1923. He was the brother of Joseph H. Rockwell. His work included Guarneri and personal models, featuring his own orange-red oil varnish, short corners, and neat workmanship. Cellos were particularly well made.
