Andreas Stelzer
Violin maker
(1674 – 1732)
Genoese maker, who claimed on his labels to be a pupil of Girolamo Amati II. He is almost certainly the Andreas Statler of Genoa (fl. c. 1700), a pupil of Girolamo Amati mentioned by Vannes. Henley likens one Giuseppe Stanza to Amati followed by characteristically dubious information. Alternate spellings include Stasser, Stanzer and Strasser. The dictionary by John Dilworth follows the spelling Andreas Statler.
