Felice Tononi


Violin maker
(c. 1670 – after 1735)

Felice Tononi was the son of Giovanni Tononi and the brother of Carlo. He was the chief beneficiary of Carlo's will, which was written in Venice in 1730. Tononi is known for making fine Amatise cellos, characterized by yellow or yellow-brown varnish. His work is marked with the inscription "Tononi di Bologna / fece, anno 16.."
