Santo Ballarini
Violin maker
(fl. 1740 – 1782)
Santo Ballarini passed through Terni, as noted in one of two labels cited in most sources, while the other mentioned an 'ugly cello' referenced by Forino. Henley recorded the name as a pseudonym for Andrea Gisalberti, following the unusual theories of Horace Petherick (see under Gisalberti). The work was rather poor and roughly finished. It was a small model featuring a flat arch and a good red orange varnish, although it had some chipping.
