Above all the admiration he and his contemporaries held for the work of Pressenda is evident throughout his career despite the personal touches that set him apart from other makers in the Piedmontese tradition. Elongated head shape is one particularly recognizable personal trait. During the peak of his career Gatti used a dark red, perhaps oil-based varnish inclined to craquel, while after 1915 he typically used a harder light orange. Interestingly, although he relocated his workshop to Via Bardassano in 1917 and his labels reflect that change of residence, he continued to brand his instruments with his former Corso Vittorio Emanuele address.
