Nicola Utili
Violin maker
(1888 – 1948)
Utili was a guitarist who taught himself to make instruments. He initially specialised in guitars and mandolins before turning to violins. His instruments feature a low arch, a good-quality oil varnish and excellent materials. He experimented with models and invented a cornerless violin. Awarded first prize for a quartet in Turin, 1928.
