Henry Handley
(1839 – after 1927)
Henry Handley was an amateur violinist and an acquaintance of Sir Edward Elgar. He was a self-taught maker, credited with crafting 106 violins, six violas, and two cellos. His workshop was located on College Street. He used commercial Whitelaw oil varnish to create classical and personal models with an amber color. He was also a skilled repairer. "Neath the shadow of Worcester's Cathedral Town, I worked on this fiddle full many an hour. In my 80th year, I fashioned the whole. It now needs a player to bring out the Soul. ".
