Giovanni Francesco Leonporri
Violin maker
(c. 1750 – 1765)
Giovanni Francesco Leonporri was possibly of Tyrolean origin and worked in Milan, Rome, and L'Aquila during the mid-18th century. He created a small model featuring a slightly pinched arch, with inconsistent workmanship reminiscent of Testore and Landolphi. His yellow-brown varnish was noted to be disappointing. An inscription on his work reads: Fatto da Giovan Francesco / Leoriporri Milanese nel aqui- / la, 1758.
