Domenico Degani
Violin maker
(1820 – 1887)
Father of the more famous Eugenio, Domenico Degani worked in Merlara, a small village just outside Montagnana. He was a prolific maker, generally using Amati or Maggini patterns for his violins, which occasionally feature scrolls carved to resemble the head of a woman.
He is also known to have made instruments for Vicenza dealers Francesco Lazzaretti and Giovanni Battista de Lorenzi.
