Johann Georg Schönfelder was a master of the violin makers guild in 1769. He produced very fine copies of Stainer violins with accurate craftsmanship and golden yellow varnish. Often, his violins featured one-piece backs with a narrow horizontal figure. They were branded internally with `I*G*S*'.
