Labeled, "Hannibal fagnola fecit Taurini anno Domini 1927." and, "Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q. Raphael fecit Taurini anno Domini 1830."
Inscribed to the inside top bass rib, "Annibale Fagnola Fecit Torino 1927." The varnish distressed.
LOB: 35.3 cm
The violin displays many of Fagnola's signature features: a robust, well-proportioned model, a distinct broad, large oval button with prominent cuts to its sides, and neat, controlled workmanship. It has had only two owners since the 1950s and, remarkably, from the 1970s until 2025 it was displayed decoratively, hanging on a wall. Its prolonged exposure to natural daylight has caused considerable alteration and distress to the varnish's original appearance, however its absence from use is likely the reason why the violin presents in a practically new state, virtually free of any cracks.
