Labeled, "Stefano Scarampella di Brescia Premiato con Medaglie d'Argento Fratello ed Allievo del Giuseppe Fece in Mantova anno 1909."
Inscribed to the inside top, "...B Paris 1912, 6." Branded to the button, "S. S."
LOB: 35.7 cm
The instrument retains a plentiful red varnish characteristic of Scarampella’s work from this period, beautifully accentuating the highly flamed maple of the back. Its overall condition is excellent for its age, with a freshness that is rarely encountered in examples of this maker.
The violin bears its original label and Scarampella’s brand, “S.S.”, to the button. Built on a slightly broader model, it reflects a form particularly appreciated by musicians for its power and breadth of sound, qualities that have long contributed to Scarampella’s enduring reputation among performers.
