Helmut Reimann (1906 - 1994) studied with Emanuel Feuermann in Berlin, and began his career in the cafés on Kurfürstendamm, until winning a competition with the Bruckner Orchestra in Linz in 1944. He moved to Stuttgart and taught at the Musikhochschule from 1946 to 1952, where his students included Angelica May. He then became a member of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart (SWR) c. 1950-1970, where he played under Furtwängler and Hindemith. He was also part of the Zernick Quartet and later the Barchet Quartet, recording the complete Mozart string quartets in the late 1950s. The recording received a “Grand Prix” in Paris. The cello is being sold by Helmut's grand-daughter.
