129: A VIOLIN BY ANNIBALE FAGNOLA, TURIN, 1925

Labeled, "Hannibal Fagnola fecit Taurini anno Domini 1925"
and, "Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q. Raphael, fecit Taurini anno Domini 18..."

Inscribed to the upper bass rib, "Annibale Fagnola fecit Torino 1925."

LOB: 35.4 cm

This handsome violin is a fine and typical example of Fagnola’s most popular model inspired by Pressenda. The deeply flamed maple of the one-piece back is among the most attractive tonewoods of the maker's output. The violin is signed and dated to the upper bass rib and bears its original label and also the maker's original facsimile label of Pressenda. The instrument is in near-mint condition and is covered in an attractive reddish brown varnish with fine texture and subtle shading.
