The ‘ex-David Soyer’ Andrea Guarneri

Earlier this month Tarisio had the privilege of selling the cello of one of the most important chamber musicians of the 20th century: the “ex- David Soyer” Andrea Guarneri.

Less than 20 cellos by Andrea Guarneri remain in existence and this circa 1669 cello was Mr. Soyer’s main instrument throughout his playing career. It can be heard in most of the recordings of the Guarneri String Quartet, of which Mr. Soyer was a founding member in 1964.

The ex-Soyer was purchased in a private sale and will be played by one of Europe’s leading soloists and chamber musicians.
