Albert Caressa and Henri Francais were the junior partners in the Gand & Bernardel firm, and on Gustave Bernardel's retirement in 1901 they continued the firm as Caressa & Francais. When Henri Francais retired in 1920, it was renamed Albert Caressa and after Caressa's retirement it was continued under Henri Francais's son Emile as Emile Francais.
