VSA 2014 Convention

We’ve just returned from three days at the VSA convention in Indianapolis and want to thank the Violin Society of America for having us. Over 30 highlights from our October auctions were on display for the makers and players in attendance, including lots by Rugeri, Gabrielli, Gagliano and more. It was truly exciting to be part of the VSA’s biggest convention as attendees, exhibitors and sponsors.

The convention’s capstone is the bi-annual competition for new makers which featured some very fine instruments by friends and colleagues. Notably, Collin Gallahue earned a Gold Medal for his violin, as did Jason Viseltear for his viola. Many other talented makers were recognized for their skill and hard work, including Emmanuel Begin who won a Gold Medal for a violin bow. We proudly offer another bow by Emmanuel as Lot 151 in the New York auction ending October 15. And look for the viola that earned Jim Robinson a silver medal for tone in the February 2015 auction.

The complete competition results are available here .

Tarisio also donated a number of instruments and bows for the VSA’s annual fundraising auction among its membership. Over $8,000 was raised from our gifts alone, which the VSA has pledged for scholarships for new makers. We couldn’t be happier.
