Ivory Notice for February 2015 SRT Sale

February 17, 2015, 5pm

As this time New York State has not issued licenses to allow Tarisio (or anyone in New York State) to sell musical instruments containing ivory.

Successful bidders for indicated bows in the February auction will have the choice of either:

1) having their purchases held at Tarisio until NYS may issue a license

or

2) having the tip removed and the option of either:
a) a credit for $150 or b) having Tarisio arrange a synthetic tip on your behalf.

In no case will tips be removed until requested by the successful bidder. Please contact us if you have any questions before bidding.

Tarisio is committed to correct practices and we thank you greatly for your patience and understanding. For the time being, some of this remains out of our immediate control.

Though New York State law A10143 is well intentioned, it’s created a burdensome situation while the state determines a licensing and enforcement scheme. This situation should be temporary, and we believe it is. We’re working closely with attorneys and well-meaning state employees to navigate these regulations for our clients. We hope to have a resolution as soon as possible.
