163: A VIOLIN BY GIUSEPPE DALL'AGLIO, MANTUA, 1803

Labeled, "Joseph Dalaglio fecit Mantuae Anno 1803."

LOB: 34.8 cm

This violin is a characteristic and refined example of Dall'Aglio's Mantuan style. The maker's distinctive hand is visible throughout; in the pointed corners, the heavily fluted lower wings, and above all in the downward leaning volute. With provenance tracing back to the Hill firm, this is a distinguished instrument for the connoisseur of the northern Italian school.
