Labeled, "Marinus Capicchioni Fecit Arimini A. D. 1961."
Branded to the inside back, "M. Capicchioni-Rimini."
LOB: 35.7 cm
The instrument features a striking two-piece back of attractively flamed maple and is preserved in near-perfect condition, with an exceptionally fresh and lustrous varnish. It stands as a particularly clean and appealing example of the maker’s work.
Capicchioni’s instruments have been owned and played by leading musicians, including Yehudi Menuhin, David Oistrakh, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Salvatore Accardo, reflecting their wide professional appeal. Remarkably, Capicchioni was entirely self-taught, yet achieved a high level of craftsmanship, combining meticulous attention to detail with a prolific output that has made his instruments increasingly sought after today.
