René A. Morel – A Memorial Reception in Photos

December 26th, 2011 by Tarisio

December 13, 2011, New YorkFriends and family gathered at Tarisio to celebrate the life of René A. Morel. It was an afternoon of memories in the space where René spent almost 30 years of his career making, restoring, and adjusting fine instruments for the world’s most respected players and aspiring students.  The highlight was a short performance in René’s memory by Eugene Drucker and Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet.  The performance featured a rare Strad-model violin by Rene, shared by the family.  The violin is pictured below with René’s children, Fran, Evelyne, and Pascal.

The Morel Family thanks those in attendance, and those who could attend in spirit alone, for their show of appreciation and support.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in René’s memory to The Juilliard School for the support of the rare instrument collection, which René so lovingly cared for.  For more information about making a gift to The Juilliard School in the name of René A. Morel, please contact Lori Bierly Padua at (212) 799-5000, ext. 7152 or lpadua@juilliard.edu.
