Speculative and Restorable Instruments and Bows
Tarisio’s sales of speculative and restorable instruments and bow offer a range of items in need of work at highly attractive prices.
Recent sales have included damaged Sartory violin bows (estimate $300-500), 18th-century northern Italian violins with multiple post cracks in need of substantial restoration (estimate $1,000-1,500) and many German trade instruments free of cracks but needing set-ups (estimate $1,000-1,500).
The sales are held in February, June and August, with public viewings in New York. Details of each lot are available online before the sales, with descriptions and colour photographs of every item. There is also a downloadable PDF catalog. As for all Tarisio sales, bidding takes place online.
