René A. Morel Adjustments
From May 2008 René Morel has been working alongside Tarisio on the 11th Floor of 244-250 W. 54th, offering his renowned sound adjustments service.
Morel’s skills have been developed over a lifetime of working with instruments. He began his training aged 12 in Mirecourt, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Paul Mangenot. He also studied in Rennes with Bossard Bonnel and then returned to Mirecourt, where he repaired violins until he was 18. Later he emigrated to the US and worked for Kagan & Gaines in Chicago before moving to Rembert Wurlitzer’s New York dealership, where Simone Sacconi ran the workshop. In 1964 he established his own firm in collaboration with Jacques Francais and the two worked together until 1994, when Morel went into partnership with Emmanuel Gradoux-Matt. He now works independently.
