Domenico Busan was born outside Treviso and probably arrived in Venice around 1743-44. If this date is correct, the location of his apprenticeship is unknown, as Matteo Goffriller had died in 1742. Busan sold his instruments through the Ongaro family workshop, and his work bears marked similarity to makers of that family. Though not quite as refined as those of other Venetian makers, they showcase numerous characteristics of that school.
